The 6 BEST Primers!

The 6 BEST Primers!

It took me a while to realise the benefit of primers, to be honest with you. I really could not see the point of putting a thin layer of nothing on underneath your makeup, which didn’t really seem to do anything. Well, I now see that I have been foolish!! Ha!

The main benefits that I find when I wear a primer in comparison to when I don’t are;

that I can no longer see my pores woohoo!,

that I have less shine in my darn T-zone area ( I know you know where I’m coming from my combo skin friends),

that my makeup goes on smoothly and appears more flawless,

and that my makeup lasts longer!

However, these results vary with each primer. So here are my faves and I will tell you a little about each and why they are so good!

Urban Decay Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer

This little beauty will be with me for a long time! This is pigmented so that it evens out the colour on the lids and provides a smooth base for eyeshadow application, especially for wrinkly eyes. It also makes sure that you have less fall out when applying and keeps that shadow in place aaaallll day.

Benefit the Pore fessional Pro Balm

benefit porefessional primer

Also tinted to even out the complexion before applying makeup, this minimises the appearance of fine lines and pores making your skin look flawless even before applying any makeup! It contains vitamin E and controls some shine so is perfect for combination or dry skin. My current fave!

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Fatigue Blur – Cool Rose

Baby skin has a pink tint to match it’s cool rose name and is water based so a good choice for oily skin. It hydrates well and smooths out the skin giving a blurring effect. A lovely silky texture too!

Rodial Instaglam Airbrush Primer

rodial primer

Another silky beauty! Like many of the Rodial products, this doesn’t disappoint. This is a clear formula hydrates and is lightweight, and contains ‘hyaluronic acid to plump the look of lines and wrinkles and gransil and osilift to instantly tighten the appearance and blur imperfections with a matte finish’. Well worth the money!

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm

Described as a Clarins Cult product, this moisturises, brightens and tightens. It includes some organic ingredients that help to smooth the surface of the skin (hats off to anything that can do that!). A little of this goes a long way. Super for all skin types and very nourishing for dry skin!

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer

This primer is also colourless but is not as thick as the Rodial Instaglam. The gel has antioxidants which act as more of a barrier between the skin and the worldly elements. It was a John Lewis best in beauty which shows it’s popularity and I still consider it one of the best in my collection. I would recommend this primer for normal to oily skin types.
